STEP 1 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 1 Picture)
We recommend having a second pair of hands to help put this crate together. On a hard/level surface insert side panel into back panel making sure joints are tight and top is level/flush with side panel.
STEP 2 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 2 Picture)
Insert floor by inserting the crate bottom into the grooves on side and back panels making sure interior joint is tight.
STEP 3 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 3 Picture)
Attach the side panel to the back panel using the “L” Brackets. We recommend placing one of the “L” Brackets approximately 3 inches from the top and the other “L” Bracket approximately 3” from the bottom in the corners as shown in the “L” Bracket Assembly picture on the following page. Place the “L” Bracket where you want to install it. Then mark where to drill the holes with a pencil or a felt tip pen. We recommend using a 1/16 drill bit to drill a pilot hole. Making a pilot hole will make screwing in the wood screws much easier. Attach each “L” Brackets lining them over the pilot holes you just drilled and fasten to both the side and back panel.
STEP 4 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 4 Picture)
Insert the other side into floor and slide into back panel until joint is tight . Make certain joint is tight before affixing “L” Brackets. Make pilot holes and install “L” Brackets just like you did in step 3.
STEP 5
If you purchased a pan, it would be easier if you place the pan inside the crate now. If you did not purchase a pan, go on to Step 6.
STEP 6 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 6 & 6A Pictures)
Attach the front/door panel—we recommend tipping the crate up onto the back panel and inserting the front/door panel into grooves on the floor and side panel and making sure all joints are tight. Then lower back down to the floor and affix “L” Brackets just like you did in Step 3.
STEP 7 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 7 & 8 Pictures)
On the top of the first side panel, measure in approximately 7” in from outside of front/door panel and mark then drill pilot holes MAKING SURE “L” BRACKET IS SQUARE WITH TOP (a smidge too low is better than a smidge too high—See assembly picture “ASSEMBLY STEP 7 & 8”. Repeat by measuring in approximately 7” in from outside of crate back panel and mark then drill pilot holes MAKING SURE “L” BRACKET IS SQUARE.
STEP 8 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 7 & 8 Pictures)
Secure the top to the crate by placing the crate top on top of the crate making sure the top is positioned evenly all the way around before affixing the “L” Brackets.
STEP 9
Mark the place to drill the pilot holes where the “L” Brackets will attach to the crate top. You can do this either from inside the crate or by removing the top after you’ve marked where to drill the pilot holes and placing the crate top on the floor and drilling the holes there. PLEASE TAKE CARE NOT TO DRILL TOO DEEP AS YOU COULD DRILL THROUGH TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CRATE TOP. We recommend having someone hold the top securely in place while you are marking/drilling the pilot holes so the top does not slide out of position when marking and drilling the pilot holes if you choose to drill the pilot holes while the crate top is still in place. Drill the pilot holes.
STEP 10 (See ASSEMBLY STEP 10 Picture)
Attach the top to the sides by lining up the pilot holes with the hole in the “L” Bracket and affixing the screws through the “L” Brackets on the top piece. You can easily affix the brackets closest to the door. But it is almost impossible to affix the back two “L” Brackets without laying inside the crate. We recommend using a folded up blanket or a bed pillow to protect your back while you are affixing the back two “L” Brackets while lying inside the crate.
